American Forests is building a reforestation movement in America, from cities to large, rural landscapes. We are driven by the important role of forests in solving two critical issues: climate change and social inequities that people in under-resourced communities face. We also are driven by the need to protect America’s water and wildlife.

U.S.-based corporations are major players in making this movement a reality. They have tremendous influence over the decisions people make, including decisions that impact the future health of our planet.

That’s why American Forests forges strategic partnerships with corporations that share our values—corporations in such sectors as technology, finance, energy and retail. Multi-million-dollar corporations and small, family-run businesses, as well as everything in between.

Partnering with American Forests helps corporations build good will with their employees and customers, many of whom support social and environmental causes. By working with us to reforest America, corporations also help reduce their environmental footprint and ensure that natural resources, such as wood and clean water, that are key to their bottom line remain available to them well into the future.

Support from corporate partners enables us to reach our goals related to reforesting vast rural landscapes and ensuring that trees are planted equitably in every neighborhood in every major American city.

Being a good corporate citizen is good for business. And American Forests makes it easy. From our small business partners to our lead sponsors, we customize benefits, messaging and annual giving to best meet the needs and goals of organizations who choose to partner with us.

“Our customers appreciate knowing every dollar they add at check-out goes directly to planting a tree, and our associates appreciate our 20-year history with such a trusted sustainability partner.”

WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

GROW WITH GREEN CAUSES

$1 per Tree

It’s easy to understand and communicate: $1 – 1 tree. Thanks to many incredible partnerships, we are able to offer corporate partners the opportunity to plant a tree for every dollar they donate in large forest landscapes across the U.S. like the Northern Rockies and Cascades, Lower Rio Grande Valley in Texas, fire-damaged areas in California and stripped mineland in West Virginia. Your partnership can make a major impact in restoring these beautiful but threatened ecosystems, and we will help you communicate the incredible work your partnership makes possible to your customers and employees.

Cause Marketing

What you stand for matters to your customers. A growing body of research shows that consumers want corporations to have a positive impact on society and the environment, with nearly 9 out of 10 saying they would buy a product because a company advocated for an issue they care about. In a recent study, three-quarters of consumers surveyed said they want corporations to address climate change.

Your partnership with American Forests not only demonstrates your commitment to positive causes, but gives you a platform to encourage others to follow suit. Whether you would like customers to buy a certain product, your social media audience to get more involved on various platforms, or shareholders to engage with your brand, trees are an effective tool to boost participation numbers and foster good will for your corporation’s environmental efforts.

Holiday Campaign

What better time to maximize your company’s goodwill in the eyes of your customers than during the holidays? Help your customers feel even better about their purchases by letting them know that for every certain product they purchase, a tree will be planted in a critical ecosystem. Even easier, allow them to add a dollar to plant one tree at check out in-store or online.

Earth Month

Cause-related marketing helps enhance a company’s brand and promote sales – and Earth Month in April, or Earth Day on April 22, offer powerful messaging opportunities. Partners can run a special campaign on top of what they are already doing to plant trees, or center their whole environmental partnership around a time in which trees are top of mind for both customers and employees!

BUILD A PASSIONATE TEAM

Employee Tree Planting

Our tree planting events provide corporations with a meaningful opportunity to engage employees in a hands-on effort to help restore urban forests and wildlands. Working with American Forests and our local on-the-ground partners, employee tree planting events involve?an active day of planting trees and a chance to experience firsthand the impact of our partnership. We can organize these events in many of the cities we currently work in, or potentially bring an employee tree planting to a city near your office or headquarters. These events also can serve as team bonding opportunities and satisfy employees’ desires to give back to the community. A recent America’s Charities poll found 82 percent of survey respondents believe employees want the opportunity to volunteer with peers in a corporate-supported event.

Employee Engagement

Did you know a recent America’s Charities poll found 82% of survey respondents believe employees want the opportunity to volunteer with peers in a corporate-supported event? In addition to this, Project ROI’s research discovered a well-designed corporate social responsibility program can increase employee engagement up to 7.5 percent, increase employee productivity by 13 percent, reduce employee rurnover by 50 percent, and increase revenue by as much as 20 percent. Contact us today to learn more about the many employee engagement opportunities available through a partnership with American Forests!

Gift of Trees

Not sure what to give your employees with for the holidays this year? Consider giving the gift of trees! Donate $10, $25, $50 to plant as many trees and give your employees a certificate that lets them know about the positive environmental impact that was made in their name. American Forests has a certificate template and can work with you on selecting projects you believe your employees, or other stakeholders you would like to gift, would care most about.

LEAD WITH YOUR VALUES

Tree Equity

Trees are vital to the health, wealth and climate resilience of people who live in cities. But a map of tree cover in America’s cities is too often a map of income and race. That’s because, often in cities, trees are sparse in low-income neighborhoods and some neighborhoods of color. We’re working to achieve Tree Equity—trees in every part of every city. Our urban forestry program is working in roughly 20 major metropolitan areas across the U.S. Your support can help plant trees in neighborhoods that lack them or create urban forestry jobs and train people from under-resourced committees to fill them.

Offsetting Carbon and More

Not sure where to get started with your Corporate Social Responsibility initiative or looking to bring it to the next level of impact? While we don’t provide carbon credits, consider calculating and then voluntarily offsetting your carbon emissions from corporate travel, meetings and events, or your paper usage from daily business practices by planting trees. Forest restoration and conservation can also replenish water usage for certain industries. This is an affordable way to show your commitment to environmental sustainability. Join dozens of other companies in partnering with us to ensure forests exist for future generations.

Paperless Campaign

Although American Forests encourages corporations to use paper that is produced from responsibly managed forests, we also offer “Go Paperless” programs. These initiatives offer tree planting as an incentive for customers to switch from paper to electronic communications, and potentially save corporations millions of dollars in operating costs. American Forests has partnered with a host of leading brands on these programs including Travelers, DISH Network, Synchrony Bank and Verizon Wireless.

Partnership Highlight

American Forests and Bank of America have been working together to restore tree canopies in cities across the US since 2013. Check out this partnership video to learn more about the outdoor education center they made possible on a vacant lot in a low-income Detroit community.
